The second edition of the Western Capitals of Inclusion and Diversity Award was introduced by Commissioner Dalli on December 6. The goal of the award is to recognize, promote, and highlight best practices that can serve as an example for additional Western cities to help their citizens live more diverse and inclusive lives.

Three cities will be honored by the Award in two categories:

  • regional governments with fewer than 50,000 residents
  • regional authorities that serve more than 50,000 people.

A Specific Award for regional governments that address violence against women and provide secure towns, cities, and regions for women in all their diversity will also be given out in 2024.

All native authorities, including towns, cities, and regions of EU Member States, are eligible for the Award. All discrimination-related grounds under article 19 of the TFEU and their intersectionality are covered by best practices.

All standard EU languages can access the website devoted to the EU Diversity initiatives in 2024. Along with images created for the European Capitals of Inclusion and Diversity Award, it will also include a link to the Initiative competition application form. Additionally, you can find registration links to webinars that the hosts host to help those who are interested in applying with any questions.

Applications near at 12:00 CET on February 15, 2024. Any standard language of the EU is used to submit your application. The Award presentation will take place on April 25, 2024.
