Nokia’s MX Industrial Edge Platform Enhancements
In order to improve business IoT functionalities in areas like asset tracking, positioning, inside navigation, and worker safety, Nokia has unveiled the addition of five new third-party applications to its MX Industrial Edge platform.
These new applications make use of the MX Industrial Edge’s built-in intelligence, low overhead, and strong connectivity to promote more efficient industrial operations. Nokia aims to address common problems like underoptimal asset use and insufficient inventory control by positioning these applications at the network’s edge, adjacent to industrial assets and personnel.
Two of the recently released applications are focused on using technologies like RFID and visible positioning systems to track and position business assets in real-time. While Svarmony’s physical defining application helps employees navigate challenging environments, Nordic ID offers a complete RFID solution for the digital identification and tracking of supply chain assets. For staff and vehicles, a different application from HERE provides accurate exterior GPS tracking.
Innovative Solutions for Worker Safety
Nokia has worked with Portalify and Secapp to develop brilliant solutions for single worker scenarios and effective emergency responses in the area of worker safety. When an alert is activated, the SmartView application from Portalify uses a variety of positioning technologies to identify employees ‘ locations and send this information to response teams. Currently, Secapp offers a safe video chat and messaging service designed for managing urgent incidents.
These IoT applications are being made available by Nokia as cloud-based solutions on the MX Industrial Edge, streamlining the deployment and management processes for business corporations looking to make the most of their data.
Nokia is convinced that these new applications will introduce significant new IoT use cases to clients in the manufacturing, logistics, and different operating sectors, along with the Edge platform’s computing power and wireless connectivity features.
According to Stephan Litjens, vice president of Nokia’s Enterprise Campus Edge Solutions, “organizations need a diverse suite of IoT applications to tackle serious challenges” due to the acceleration of modern transformation across sectors.
The smart Edge is used in the most recent additions to our Industrial Application Catalogue to increase productivity, safety, and emergency preparedness for business employees.
