AirTrunk Expands Hyperscale Data Center Presence with OSK1 in Osaka, Japan

With the announcement of its primary data center development in Osaka, AirTrunk unveiled its hyperscale data centre platform in Japan.

AirTrunk OSK1, which has a maximum capacity of over 20 megawatts (MW), is strategically situated in west Osaka and will complement the company’s existing Japan data centers in east and west Tokyo by bringing regional diversity to the region.

AirTrunk claims that across its three data centers across the nation, it will provide more than 430MW of capacity.

“A surge in synthetic intelligence applications and enterprise cloud adoption is driving great demand for essential digital infrastructure in important markets across Japan,” said AirTrunk founder and CEO Robin Khuda.

“The addition of OSK1 to our portfolio will solidify AirTrunk’s position as a dependable market leader in hyperscale data centers and show our unwavering dedication to advancing online Japan.” Our big cloud customers are able to scale in the area thanks to AirTrunk’s data centers, which are strategically situated in Tokyo and Osaka, two major hubs in Japan, according to Mr. Khuda.

The new data center is built for an industry-low power usage effectiveness and provides users with options for alternative sourcing in accordance with AirTrunk’s commitment to Online Zero by 2030.

Nori Matsushita, the head of AirTrunk Japan, stated:” In less than two years, we have opened two hyperscale data centers, and today we announce a next development in Japan.” We will continue to provide online infrastructure that is both flexible and lasting as we expand our platform beyond Tokyo into another major data center hub in Osaka.

AirTrunk will continue to be connected to ESG across all of its financing platforms by financing OSK1 through the company’s progressive green financing in Japan.

The facility, which even includes data centers in Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia, will serve as the company’s eleventh data center in the APJ region.

More than 1.4 gigawatts ( GW ) will be needed from the platform as a whole throughout the area.

The announcement comes in the wake of AirTrunk’s most recent additions, including JHB1 in Johor Bahru and HKG2, its next data center in Hong Kong.
