Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) AI-driven technology Wrong-Way Alert Systems Edge-enabled video analytics Roadway safety

Traffic and Parking Control Co. ( TAPCO ) partners with Bosch to enhance Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) with cutting-edge technology. Bosch’s AI-driven video-as-a-sensor technology is seamlessly integrated into ITS applications, bolstering safety measures. The collaboration updates TAPCO Wrong-Way Alert Systems with Bosch’s edge-enabled video analytics, ensuring real-time detection of vehicles traveling in the wrong direction. These advanced systems utilize Bosch’s brilliant ITS cameras to trigger flashing alerts, effectively capturing drivers’ attention and promoting self-correction. TAPCO’s Vice President of Innovation, Morgan Marks, emphasizes the importance of leveraging technology to mitigate the risks associated with wrong-way driving collisions. Unlike past systems relying on infrared technology, Bosch’s AI-driven detection offers superior accuracy, even in challenging conditions. With analytics processing performed at the edge, response times are swift, enhancing roadway safety. Bosch’s Lewis Stallworth underscores the significance of immediate detection in averting accidents, highlighting the system’s ability to provide real-time event notifications and live video streaming for effective management and enforcement. BlinkLink empowers authorities to take proactive measures, ensuring safer urban environments.

Integrating AI-Driven Technology for Enhanced Roadway Safety: TAPCO’s Wrong-Way Alert Systems

Traffic and Parking Control Co., an expert in intelligent transportation systems ( ITS), is working with Bosch to integrate its AI-driven video-as-a-sensor technology into ITS applications.

Through the partnership, Bosch technology with edge-enabled video analytics for roadway incidents has been updated to TAPCO Wrong-Way Alert Systems.

When a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction is detected, Bosch brilliant ITS cameras are integrated to provide real-time triggers for TAPCO Wrong-Way Alert Systems. Engineered to fit any stairway configuration, TAPCO Wrong- Way Alert Systems flash warning alerts to capture the inappropriate- way driver’s attention and encourage self- correction. These flashing alerts can be LED- increased BlinkerSigns, beacons or LegendViz domestically- light signs. If the driver does no self- right and continues down the ramp, a second layer of sensitive communications can be triggered via TAPCO’s BlinkLinksmart city software platform.

” Wrong-way driving collisions are n’t the most frequent, but these collisions are frequently fatal,” says Morgan Marks, TAPCO’s Vice President of Innovation.” We have made it a priority to constantly push the boundaries of technology used in our Wrong-Way Alert Systems to help stem the tide of these events,” Marks said.

Enhancing Road Safety with Bosch AI-Driven Detection: TAPCO’s Advanced Wrong-Way Alert Systems

Wrong-Way Alert Systems from the past reliance on infrared technology. According to TAPCO, Bosch AI- driven inappropriate- way vehicle detection is more appropriate. The cameras deliver large- level accuracy, while ignoring disturbances caused by headlights, extreme weather, sun glare or vibration. These disturbances are virtually eliminated to provide the precision detection needed for ITS safety applications, such as alerting drivers of vehicles traveling against the flow of traffic. With no key server required, the analytics processing is performed at the edge, in the camera, giving higher reliability and the lowest possible latency for detection alerts.

” When a bad way driving event is detected, immediate action is needed to stop the driver and avoid accidents”, said Lewis Stallworth, Business Development Manager – Smart Cities, Bosch. ” The instant detection provided by Bosch cameras allows quick and precise responses to these incidents to improve safety for roadway users,” said the company.

BlinkLink has the ability to stream live video on the ramp and allows it to capture images and video of each wrong-way event. BlinkLink can send true- time wrong- way event notifications, including image capture, to a traffic management centre and/or enforcement agencies via mobile modem or fiber networks. The system can even be set up to activate behind message boards or to alert connected vehicles by warning right-hand drivers of the danger that lies ahead.
