Brownsville is expanding thanks to Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport, the Texas LNG export facility, and the local SpaceX Starbase complex.

The city’s downtown core, which includes four public parks, the Department of Public Works Yard, and the airport, will be the focus of NTT DATA’s entirely managed solutions.
Original use cases include:

  • Smart Infrastructure: In phases, NTT DATA will leverage new and existing data-collection devices to establish an Internet of Things (IoT) throughout the city.
  • P5G network deployment by Connected City: NTT DATA will be done in phases to provide blanket coverage that supports IoT assets and higher bandwidth usage throughout the city. The elastic mesh created by P5G is used to deploy Smart Solutions.
  • Safety and security: Smart Solutions will deliver data analysis, predictions and recommendations in real-time. These insights, in addition to identifying and addressing public safety issues, will help city officials manage and monitor open spaces, parks, and streets.

AI-Powered Smart City Transformation

NTT DATA’s Smart Solutions will collect meaningful data from thousands of new and existing city assets such as real-time computer vision, wireless access points, and visual, sound and motion sensors. To assist city officials in addressing a variety of issues and achieve the broadly beneficial objectives of becoming a smart and related city, Smart Solutions will use machine learning and AI analytics to analyze real-time and historical data.

According to John Cowen, Jr., mayor of Brownsville,” The future is coming to life in Brownsville today as we work with NTT DATA to establish a new standard for wise, connected, and green cities.” ” Finally, we’re seeking to reinvent human-to-digital interactions in ways that deliver amazing citizen services and an excellent quality of life”.
