Samsung’s Smart Forward Updates Enhance Appliance Performance and Energy Efficiency

Samsung is revitalizing existing home appliances with its innovative “Smart Forward” updates, bringing enhanced functionality, safety, and energy efficiency. The updates include new features for the Family Hub, such as Quick Share for easy photo uploads, Buds Auto Switch for seamless sound transitions, and Fridge Call for making phone calls directly from the fridge. An improved Bixby voice assistant will facilitate better voice interactions and even open refrigerator doors via verbal command on 2024 models. Samsung is also extending these updates to older appliances, including models from as early as 2021, with energy-saving enhancements like Optimal Scheduling for AI Laundry Combos and dishwashers. These updates offer enhanced safety by notifying users of power outages via the SmartThings app, ensuring food safety, and allowing customizable door chimes and sleep modes for ice makers. By continuously updating appliances, Samsung helps customers extend the life of their investments, reducing the need for frequent replacements. The Smart Forward updates are expected to roll out globally in H2 2024

Samsung Enhances Appliances with “Smart Forward” Updates for Safety, Energy Efficiency, and User Experience

Samsung is injecting new life into already-existing appliances with novel features and improved safety and energy efficiency with innovative” Smart Forward” updates.

Miyoung Yoo, EVP and Head of the Software Development Team for Samsung’s Digital Appliances Business, said:”After years with a relentless focus on the home user experience, we are thrilled to be rolling out more Smart Forward updates to our earlier released appliances around the globe”

A number of new features are included in the updates to enhance the user experience and performance of the appliances. The Family Hub – a touch screen panel installed on limited refrigerators– will receive three new features: Quick Share, Buds Auto Switch, and Fridge Call.

Easy Share enables users to upload photos to the Family Hub screen with little effort immediately from their mobile devices. When using Galaxy Buds, the Buds Auto Switch feature ensures smooth sound transitions between the Family Hub and wireless devices. Using the built-in microphone and speaker, Family Call allows users to make phone calls straight from the Family Hub.

These updated features will be on refrigerator models with Family Hub coming out from 2017.

Bespoke 4-Door Refrigerator and AI Laundry Combo Lead Samsung’s 2024 Smart Forward Appliance Updates

An improved Bixby voice assistant will then be able to recall recent conversations and interpret commands with several intentions, facilitating simpler interactions. The Bespoke 4-Door Refrigerator with AI Family Hub and the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo are the first to receive this update, which will be accessible for five 2024 products.

For 2024 refrigerators with Family Hub, Bixby can then open doors upon verbal request without the need for wake-up commands. Also, after 2022, refrigerators that have Family Hub will be able to be customized with new wallpaper, giving users the option to customize their kitchen.

Samsung is likewise updating older models, including refrigerators made as far back as 2021, with safety and energy-saving updates. Refrigerators will detect and alert users via the SmartThings app after a power outage, adding an additional layer of food safety.

Users can then set ice makers in sleep mode to stop destructive noises at night and set different chimes for opened door notifications. To help users save energy, the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo and Samsung dishwashers will now have the Optimal Scheduling feature, which allows appliances to start earlier than optimum energy usage hours.

Samsung aims to prevent customers ‘ investments and reduce the need for frequent replacements by continually improving the functionality and performance of its appliances.

Samsung claims that the Smart Forward updates will be available for H2 2024.
