Collo, a leading Finnish technology company specializing in liquid process optimization, has secured $5 million in growth funding from SEB Greentech Venture Capital and FORWARD.one. Collo’s groundbreaking real-time measurement technology offers significant advantages to the food and beverage industry by enabling precise, in-line process control, resulting in substantial savings in water, natural materials, CO2 emissions, and waste. With its advanced machine learning capabilities, Collo’s analyzer provides actionable insights, transforming traditional production processes into more efficient and sustainable operations. By integrating Collo’s cutting-edge IoT solutions, companies can easily optimize their liquid processes without needing large-scale infrastructure investments. The company’s clients, including industry giants like Fonterra, Danone, and Valio, have already seen significant benefits, such as reduced product losses and improved Clean-in-Place (CIP) and fermentation processes. This fresh funding will help Collo expand its unique solution globally, further establishing its presence in the competitive market of sustainable production technologies. The innovative sensor and analytics capabilities set Collo apart, providing any processing plant with laboratory-level precision in a cost-effective format, paving the way for a greener, smarter future in the food and beverage industry.

$5 Million Funding to Revolutionize Liquid Process Optimization in Food and Beverage Industry

Collo, a Finnish technology company that specializes in optimizing business liquid processes, has received$ 5 million in growth funding. SEB Greentech Venture Capital from Sweden and Dutch deep-tech investor FORWARD co-led the funding round. one, with more support from existing investor Scale Capital, a Norwegian deep-tech investment firm.

Collo’s analyser offers quick characterisation of any liquid, providing food and beverage companies with steady, real-time measurement capabilities. Companies can now better control and optimize their production processes thanks to this technology, which results in substantial savings in both water and natural materials as well as CO2 emissions and waste.

According to Collo’s research, a common mid-sized dairy plant can lose up to 8 million litres of fresh milk each year as a result of poor in-line process control. These plants could significantly reduce these losses by implementing Collo’s analyzer, which could result in up to 35 million litres of fresh water and 11 million kilograms of CO2 emissions each year.

Collo’s CEO Highlights Global Transformation in Food and Beverage Industry

The global food and beverage sector isundergoing major transformation, fueled in part by climate change, growing economic demand, and increased environmental regulation. Key market leaders have established proper priorities to cut emissions by half by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050″, said Matti Järveläinen, Co-Founder and CEO of Collo. Our approach encourages the whole industry to become more efficient and sustainable. With the backing of the novel funding, we are well-prepared to establish a strong presence in international markets”.

What sets Collo apart is its sophisticated sensor, analytics, and machine-learning capabilities. The sensor eliminates the need for many conventional sensors because it is compatible with any liquid inside a production facility. Also, Collo’s analytics and machine learning capabilities provide practical insights for plant management, rather than merely supplying raw data. Operators in the food and beverage sector can manage processes without having to maintain several sensors or interpret fresh data.

” All savings are realized through process optimization using existing infrastructure. Any processing company can implement, Collo analysers to bring their plants to the IoT era, and make their processes green, without a need for large investments in new production lines”, Järveläinen added.

Collo Secures €5 Million to Revolutionize Liquid Process Optimization with Real-Time IoT and Machine Learning Solutions in the Food and Beverage Industry

Collo’s existing clients include major international food and beverage companies such as Fonterra, Danone, and Valio. While the company’s solution has proven effective in minimising product losses during production pushouts, it has also shown significant benefits in other areas, such as optimising Clean-in-Place ( CIP ) processes and fermentation processes, which are essential for many” Food 2.0″ products.

Collo will be able to expand its distinctive solution worldwide thanks to the recent €5 million growth funding. SEB Greentech VC and FORWARD co-led the funding round. one, with ongoing support from Scale Capital.

Process plants must invest in technologies that reduce emissions and conserve water more quickly than previously. Collo offers laboratory-level technology and precision in a cost-effective format, enabling any processing industry plant to achieve this. Major international industry players are now trusting Collo’s solution in process optimisation. We are very excited to help the team move into its second stage of growth, according to SEB Greentech VC Investment Manager Mikko Huumo.

“The analyser Collo has developed is really groundbreaking. We are impressed by Matti and his team and look forward to joining them in their quest to become the industry’s leader in wet analytics, said Riemer Smink, Managing Partner at FORWARD. one.
